I made this cake with ingredients you can easily find in your pantry nothing very special. To make it all better, it's a one bowl recipe meaning less dishes 💃💃 Yes I said less dishes sis less dishes🥳🥳.
TO MAKE THE BEST CAKE EVER:
Sieve the flour to incorporate air that ensures the cake rises and to also remove impurities
Add eggs.The egg whites trap air necessary for rising, they are also binding agents; they bind the rest of the ingredients together and finally they add taste to the cake.
Use milk not water for an amazing taste.
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsps baking powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil/butter/margarine
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup milk
2 eggs
11/2 tsps vanilla extract
Handful sultanas
For the glaze:
3 Tbs freshly squeezed orange juice
2 Tbs powdered sugar
HOW TO:
THE CAKE:
Preheat the oven at 180c
Dust the baking tray/line with parchment paper.
In a bowl ,sieve flour and baking powder together.
Add sugar and whisk till well-combined.
Add in all wet ingredients.i.e:milk,vanilla extract,eggs, vegetable oil.
Using a wooden spoon/whisk/electric hand mixer,mix all ingredients to form batter.
Finally, add sultanas/raisins and give the batter a final mix.
Pour the batter into the baking tray.
Bake for 1 hour at 180c
THE GLAZE:
Mix the orange juice and cake then drizzle over the cake.
NOTE:
-DO NOT OVERMIX.
-THE ONLY INGREDIENT ADJUSTABLE WITHOUT CONSEQUENCE IS THE SUGAR.ADD AS LITTLE OR AS MUCH AS YOU WANT.
-As the only sweet tooth in my family 1/4 cup does just fine.
